Careers in Dog Training

If working with dogs interests you, there are many paths you can explore. The best advice we have is to get as much experience as you can with a wide variety of breeds and temperaments. One way of achieving this is through voluntary work with rescue centres. Some will provide more thorough training, with Battersea being at the forefront for their volunteer programme, whether it's working in kennels or fostering. Check out their vacancies here

Foal Farm is a smaller rescue in Biggin Hill, Kent and Louise started her dog training career by spending time volunteering as a dog walker there before working at Battersea. You can find more information about their volunteer programme here

From time to time we have openings for volunteers to help out at our training classes, setting up, greeting clients, helping with training where appropriate and packing up at the end of classes. This provides valuable experience working around dogs and the opportunity to shadow experienced trainers. We value our volunteers and try to give as many learning opportunities as possible.

We are currently looking for volunteer helpers at our Crystal Palace weekend classes (all ages) and some of our weekday Puppy School classes. To apply please complete the form here
